The Curious Case of Tommy Hanson

We have all heard about it and we all know something happened involving Tommy Hanson and the waiver last year but not everyone knows EXACTLY what happened. I am not here to state the case and the specifics, but I am here to create the forum where the case will be hashed out. We added the waiver system to rid this town of the outlaw element. Well gentlemen, Deadwood is getting its first court case. *

Case#1

The Stonecutters
v
restrntsonahotdogbun

Each person needs to state their case as to what happened in their eyes. If you have evidence, present it. After each person states their case it will go to a league vote where the question will be asked, was Tommy Hanson acquired by restrntsonahotdogbun last off season. in a fair way, in accordance with the laws of Ramrod. Majority wins and if you choose not to vote your vote is a non vote. In the case of a tie commissioner Soul Rebel becomes the tie breaker. **

Use the comment thread to state your case gentlemen.

*This has been approved by the Commissioner.
**This has not been approved by the Commissioner but is my proposal for the process.

  1. First, I would just like to thank Gomez for taking the time to type this out. Wick is part of the case in question, precluding him from the duty. Now on to my case.Last year we had something very troubling occur in The Ramrod Dynasty League. On 2/14/09, Tommy Hanson was added to BJ's roster. It was commissioner add, meaning Wick physically added him to BJ's roster. This happened much to my chagrin, as I had a waiver claim in on Hanson and BJ's waiver priority was behind mine (he used his waiver on Brett Myers). That day, I texted BJ to ask him how this happened. I could not get Wick on the phone, so I figured this would be the next best thing. This is the transcript of that text message conversation (I have the proof for anybody who wishes to see it personally):Devon: "Can you explain how hanson was added to your team before the waiver deadline?"BJ: Italked to Will (I assume the meant to type "I talked to Wick") cuz wick sqrewed up I meanDevon: You used the waiver on Myers. Right?BJ: I know but wick was suppose to change the waiver date on hanson and he never did and thats why I ended up with meyers (myers)Devon: Why would he change the waiver date? He was slated to enter the league on the 16th just like every other guy on that list. Waivers can't just be changed. Because one person wants a player.BJ: Well to be fair hanson was my first choice so if I need to drop my pick I will and yes waivers can be changedDevon: They can? Since when? How can you change the system like that? What is the point of waivers then? I just want things to be fair, and having a player like hanson just handed over is not fair.BJ: I just wanted to change the date so he could be put in the other pool of players i wasn't changin my position or me thing (anything)Devon: Well, I might understand that if you ahdn't already used your waiver on myers. But you did, and that means those who have a waiver ahead of you should get first dibs. But even if hanson was your first choice you were number six. So it still isn't right. Hanson is a difference maker. You already have a lot of talent. Why should your team get stronger at the sacrifice of other expansion teams.BJ: So what is fair me dropping my first waiver claim i would be happy to do so. Nobody else was going to get him me ways (anyways)Devon: I was You used your waiver on myers!BJ: U are probably the only person who knows who he isI apologize for how long that was but it carries all the essential evidence.Point 1: Wick used the commissioner tools to add Hanson to BJ's team on Feb 14th, 2009.Point 2: Hanson was slated to be added by Yahoo! on Feb 16th, 2009.Point 3: BJ readily admits that he wanted the dates changed.Point 4: BJ made a conciliatory gesture by offering up his next waiver claim.Point 5: There was never an explanation offered to league as a whole, as to how the waiver system could be overridden at somebody's behest. There have been a couple counterarguments to my case, which I will address accordingly. The argument that too much time has passed means absolutely nothing. There is not statute of limitations on these matters. The second argument has been that Hanson is back on my team, so what is all the fuss about? Well, I traded David Wright to BJ for Hanson. Let me repeat that: I TRADED DAVID WRIGHT FOR MY OWN PLAYER!And you know what's funny? Nobody — except BJ and I — knew who Hanson was last off-season. Now the guy is a big deal. No mountains out of molehills here folks. The simple fact is that I was ahead of BJ and I had a claim on Hanson. Nobody else can make this statement. In closing, I have a few questions that I believe need to be answered. Why did BJ offer up a concession if he believed he had done nothing wrong? What is to stop this from happening again?Thank you.P.S. Like I said above, my text message archive is free to anybody who wishes to see it.

  3. wow.. this is the curious case of we were dating for three years, but we broke up just because we were tired of each other and then you all of the sudden found out you cheated on me a year later and decided to be bitch just to be a bitch.. I know the case is solved but in future reference DEVON when you feel slighted try and seek retribution right away. i guess i could bring in other cases such as Kyle "once he starts playing well he should be on me team Orton". Also how can you prove that you had Tommy Hanson on your waiver pick as your first one??? you picked up like 5 other players so how can you prove that in our kings court???

  4. If the topic really wants to stay alive, I think you need to tell us all why you deserved to get Tommy Hanson when you clearly used that waiver on Brett Meyers. Just saying.
