2011 Dead Rebels R.D.L. Baseball

* Notice the lineup changes I am considering. Now that we have the Ramrod Minor Affiliates, I do not think we need 8 bench slots. We can add one more Utility spot and add one more starting pitching slot, while making the “P” slot back into “RP”

The pitching is more classic Ramrod Baseball, last years experiment just thinned out the starting pitching. And we have always played 13 offensive players. Last year we went down to 11.   I think the compromise is 12.

Let me know what you guys think.

  1. My Pitching bench depth is pretty gross.

  2. You made a mistake with your lineup. We only have one P slot in Ramrod.

  3. I like it.

  5. I liked it when I argued against the changes last year. You argued that those changes were made to help the bottom teams, so I guess this year it is "fuck em." Every idea does not need to be implemented for experimentation. Sometimes these things can be hashed out by discussion, one where you listen to us. Ten years to figure out league standards is way too long. Shit, constitutions and countries get put together quicker than our league. Can we get a system and stick with it already? This seems to be a yearly discussion.

  6. You don't need to take every SUGGESTION so personal. I could propose we give you $50 at the beginning of the season, and you would find something to complain about. The whole point of having extra bench depth was so each team could take on extra younger players that would not so severely affect their lineup if that player were in the minors still, or not playing everyday. With the addition of the RMA, the formula has changed. Those bench slots to grow young players can now be utilized by your minor affiliate, instead of wasting valued bench slots. If teams are going to have rosters with more active players, why not have the slots to play them? The pitching was a fail, at least in my eyes. The consequence was an extremely shallow SP pool because of reduction of one locked in RP slot. Also, as I have been setting up the records and stats tabs, almost every year we played with 13 Offensive Starts. We cut that down to 11, which worked fine, but the fact is, with two less offensive starters there will be NO chance of ever having those records touched or broken, and there is not a lot of fun in that.Over the course of the season I heard how people liked the new rosters a lot, without all the extra IF positions, but if there was one complaint it was we should add just one more utility slot. Well, here i am listening to the league and trying to grow it for the better. The Ramrod Minor Affiliates came from idea born from Devon R's head. The league changed because I was taking suggestions and molding those suggestions into what they are today, and that forces things to be different. You either adapt and change, or stay the same no matter what. Either way, as Commissioner, I am going to hear it from the league. I choose to listen to the people, look for ways to advance/better the league, and do what i can to create as fair as a playing field possible all while listening and reacting to the pulse of the league.Rome was not built in a day Gomez. You know that, you've seen the HBO series.

  9. This league is not Rome and Romulus and Remus you are not. And even they could have built a league in 10 years and they've never heard of baseball nor yahoo. Now, do you notice how the complaining is always centered around the same topic, the year to year changes? I am fine with this change, in fact I am so fine with it I argued for it last year. It didn't take a full season to find out what people wanted. BJ commented and lobbied for keeping 2 utility spots and I recall conversations with Derek where he said the same thing. The year before we all agreed that we needed to trim down the IF spots but you went from trimming the fat to hacking at muscle. I said this last year, you make changes to the rosters based on how you feel your team should be run. You wanted to have a spot to groom a young player so it was implemented into the rosters. I have been going with that strategy since Alex Gordon. Now you feel that is not necessary so the rosters change. I'm still going to implement that strategy. Think about it, when those RMA players come up you better have a dead spot on your roster because very few will be impact players from year one, and there will be many players we did not draft that can earn a spot on a team. Trends in how each team is built should not have any impact on the overall roster.Do you ever think that you hearing it from the league is ever justified? Every time there is a flare up you play that card and expect it to die down. You do not need 10 years to figure out the pulse of the league, you can do it in an afternoon with some phone calls. Honestly, no one cares about the records but you, they should have 0 bearing on how the teams are constructed. This is not meant to be insulting or talking shit, this is just fact. I think you have gone way overboard on this blog, it is cluttered, hard to navigate and an eye sore. Things change daily. I appreciate the ambition you have put into this page but it needs to be toned down. You want to now start a FB page for it, why? I'm sorry, but no one in the outside world cares about our fantasy league, your McCovey Chronicles post proved that. I love this but no body cares and not in the Gary Radnich ha ha "nobody cares" way. If you wanted to do something dulling out fantasy advice and shit like that, cool, but this page is just for us. We do not even have the parameters of our league set and you want to make it some highly sought after information, why? You should perfect the basic functions of the site, work to get all the members of Ramrod Leagues to be active participants, especially in the comment threads. Once it is a fully functioning blog you then begin to add. This site was a great idea but you took a wrong turn in Albuquerque.

  10. I'm sorry Wick, but I really don't see the insults your refer to above. Gomez even went out of his way to make sure his opinions were not misinterpreted. The following passage serves as an example of this:"Honestly, no one cares about the records but you, they should have 0 bearing on how the teams are constructed. This is not meant to be insulting or talking shit, this is just fact. I think you have gone way overboard on this blog, it is cluttered, hard to navigate and an eye sore. Things change daily. I appreciate the ambition you have put into this page but it needs to be toned down."Notice he even acknowledged your "ambition." His writing was an expression of his frustration over the fluidity of the league and the blog. His criticisms, though unfettered, were from the heart. At least, that is how I read them. From one thin-skinned guy to another, I really don't see anything that was meant to be taken personally. I understand that you are proud of this blog and I understand that it is a work in progress. But perhaps that means it should be taken more lightly — even by it's author. After all, we have 11 followers, 6 of which rarely if ever post. This site is impressive in it's comprehensiveness and I recognize the time and effort you have put into it. But if you do put a creation out there, you have to be receptive to the criticism that will undoubtedly follow. This is especially true of anything in it's first generation. P.S. This was not meant as a post to gang up on you or back Gomez up. I just thought I might be able to clarify some things, that's all.

  11. Forget it about. Nobody cares about the website and I could use my mediocre creative energy on other things.. It was all for nothing anyways and always has been waste of time. These are facts i already know, its just not fun when your friends want to make sure you know they are absolutly true. It kills the spirit. Its never credit with anyone, its always insults and attacks. The blog was a work in progress, that I have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into. I know what you guys think of my "mediocre creativity". You have made that point so perfectly clear, and it resonated with me deeply. Im over it. It's all For what? A shitty home website none of the Owners give a shit about for a league maybe three people try in?It's not a lot of fun when the people you have blindly supported in the past tell you the one creative outlet you have is not only crap, but a waste of time that nobody gives a shit about, even if it is true. All i wanted to do was expand the ways our owners enjoy Ramrod, not have my creativity insulted.

Posted by Dead Rebel | January 5, 2011, 9:17 am
  12. The frustration comes from the fact that I put so much energy into Ramrod and all i receive is negative reactions. You would think everyone hates being here, like they were Nathan or something.I do not mind negative, it helps me grow and learn what people want/expect from Ramrod. The part that drives me nuts and causes me to get defensive is there is never any positive feedback.I am not asking you guys to stroke me off, but you have to understand MY reactions come from the lack of positive/negative feedback balance, and thats the part that works me up.

  13. At first I was fucking heated with what Gomez wrote. Then I re read it and realized it was all true, patronizing, but true. Just pisses me off that he said it when it didn't need to be said.We were talking Roster changes, not "work in progress" blog managing. I just got in a fight with myself after i let you work me up and it cost me two hours sleep. Thanks.

  14. Also, your band played to loud and your lead singer was fat and bald.I hoped everyone just enjoyed me getting way over-defensive about Ramrod tonight. I will protect Ramrod to the death, don't ever forget that.Good Night.

  15. First, just because you delete a post doesn't mean it wasn't read. So I am going to respond whether you deleted it or not.I apparently don't know how to communicate with you.Look at what I said:"No one cares about the records……This is not meant to be insulting or talking shit, this is just fact.""I appreciate the ambition you have put into this page but it needs to be toned down.""You should perfect the basic functions of the site, work to get all the members of Ramrod Leagues to be active participants, especially in the comment threads. Once it is a fully functioning blog you then begin to add. This site was a great idea but you took a wrong turn in Albuquerque."Then you ended your post with:"It's hard not to take things personally when the only tone I hear is 'asshole' and not constructive criticism. There in lies the problem, it does not matter what I write because you've already labeled it "asshole." Look at what I say. "…this is not to insult you," "I appreciate the ambition you put into this page.” How are those personal insults? Then I finish with the exact definition of constructive criticism. I did not say it sucks and leave it that, I give constructive suggestions. And I finish it up with “this site was a great idea.” Where are the personal insults? Oh I know where:“I treat people with respect. You deal with them.”“I always give the benefit of the doubt, but when you act like this it makes me think there is no side to you but ‘cold and insulting.’”Those are shots at me personally, my character and who I am as a person. How is that ok but saying you’ve gone over board with the blog is such a mortal personal insult? And I’d also like to point out that not once did I say the blog sucked and is a waste of your time so do not put words in my mouth. What I said is trying to get outsiders to come and care about our league is not going to happen. It should be a page designed for us as followers. I am one of the most active people on this board. You want my suggestions and have asked for them. My post was meant to not be insulting, give constructive criticism and be blunt. Blowing smoke up each other’s ass is pointless. Now you want to compare this to music, fine. Adam and I were putting together a project with Jake and Jake criticized my playing, said I had to get lessons because my chops were not up to speed. What did I do? I went and got lessons and tried to get better. How would I have looked as a band member if I got super insulted and started attacking him? He was right, I had to get better and I did. And you came to many shows and would boo us. Hey maybe you were joking but coming to our show and booing us is not a sign of respect. It was actually extremely disrespectful to do to your friend, so why is it different? It is not.Now to your last post, I did not say any of the things as I pointed out. The blog is not a waste of time. You’ve just gotten over ambitious with it. I am now repeating myself but I said it is a good idea. You say that all you get is negative comments for the things you do, no, you skip over positive remarks and focus on what you perceive to be insults. When you wrote the whole troll story, I said it was very good and funny. How is that blasting you and putting down what you do?

  16. Just want to point out I started writing the above post between your posts at 1:38 and 1:49 so I did not see your last few posts when I wrote this. Also, what I said about the blog was very much relevant to the roster change discussion. I didn't just throw it out there as a way to get under your skin. This is what I was responding to:"Also, as I have been setting up the records and stats tabs, almost every year we played with 13 Offensive Starts. We cut that down to 11, which worked fine, but the fact is, with two less offensive starters there will be NO chance of ever having those records touched or broken, and there is not a lot of fun in that."I was saying that the records and things you do on this blog should not be a factor into roster changes. That was the point I started with then moved on to give you my honest view of some of the aspects of this blog. That is why I said what I said.

  17. Agreed. This was a stupid fight anyways. What I posted I posted under extreme pissed offbess and meant everyword at the time. After I posted them I re read what you posted and decided I was taking it WAY to personal, and you were just being "Gomez", with your typical blunt, no punches held kind of way, so I decided to remove the post because they were nothing but negative energy, and the bottom line is you were right. There might be 3 people who care about this blog and the truth hurts. Especially when it comes from yyou, because of your distinct way of presenting information. You can tell Baseball is right around the corner. This doesnt happen in the other sports. Good game. We defiantly have somebig
